Patient Information

Everything you need, in one calm place.

A quick guide to being a Night Owl patient — from your first visit through long-term follow-up.

01 · New Patients

What to expect on your first visit.

New-patient consultations are 45 minutes and take place by secure video. Before your visit we’ll send a brief health history and sleep diary so we can spend our time listening, not gathering forms. You’ll leave with a clear plan — whether that’s home testing, treatment, or coordinated referral.

02 · Insurance & Billing

In-network with most Maryland plans.

We accept most commercial insurance plans in Maryland, along with Medicare. We’ll verify your benefits before your first visit and give you a clear estimate of any out-of-pocket costs. Self-pay rates are available for uninsured patients.

03 · Home Testing

Sleep studies at home, delivered.

When testing is appropriate, we ship an FDA-cleared home sleep apnea test to your address with a step-by-step guide. You wear it for one to three nights in your own bed, drop it back in the mail, and we review results with you at your next visit.

04 · Prescriptions & Refills

Sent to your local pharmacy.

Prescriptions and equipment orders go directly to your Frederick-area pharmacy or DME supplier. Refills can be requested through the patient portal, and we respond within one business day.

05 · Between Visits

You're never on your own.

Secure messaging is included with every treatment plan, so you can reach your care team with questions about your device, medications, or sleep patterns — usually with same-day response.

06 · Care Coordination

Working with your other doctors.

With your permission, we send visit notes and treatment updates to your primary care physician and any specialists involved in your care. Good sleep medicine rarely happens in isolation.

07 · Emergencies

When to seek urgent care.

Night Owl is not an emergency service. If you’re experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, or a mental health crisis, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. For urgent but non-emergent concerns, message your care team.

08 · Forms & Records

Requesting medical records.

Records requests can be submitted through the patient portal or by contacting our office. We typically fulfill requests within five business days.
